Grants for Know-How / IP

Know how or intellectual property is the ownership of a novel methodology to understand gained from experience or attainment.  Not all know how or IP is able to be patented or legally protected.

Grants for Know-How / IP include:

Export Market Development Grants (EMDG)

Reimbursement of up to $150k based on 50% of your export marketing costs, provided you are the principle in the transaction and promoting Australian products or services.  First time claims can include eligible expenses for the last 2 financial years.

Research & Development Tax Concession

The research & development tax concession is an ongoing scheme supporting research & development conducted by Australian companies. It is broad-based, not industry specific, and market-driven with the applicant entity deciding upon the scope and timing of the research & development.

Research and Development Tax Rebate

By complying with the requirements the company acquires the ability to claim R&D associated costs at either 125% or 175% on their tax return.  This has the benefit of reducing the amount of company tax that would otherwise be payable.

Enhanced Project By-Law Scheme

The ICIP is a $25 million program aimed at encouraging business-to-business cooperation on innovation projects that enhance productivity, growth and the international competitiveness of Australian industries.

Innovation Advisory Services (IAS)

Generating ideas and being innovative are important contributors to business success. The IAS provides assistance to promote the adoption of innovation in business.

Innovation Clusters

Innovation Clusters are drivers of innovation through the adoption of technology, modern systems and practices.  Firms learn to innovate using technology and leading-edge management techniques in Innovation Clusters based around the State.

Innovation Incentive

Employers hiring an Australian Apprentice may be eligible for a range of Australian Government and State Government incentives and personal assistance.

Integrated environmental program

Grants from $500,000 are available for integrated programs of up to 3 years duration for partnership proposals between the following groups.
Local government organisations, Community groups, Industry groups, Environmental groups, Universities and research organisations, State government agencies.

International Collaborative Indigenous Health Research Partnership (ICIHRP)

The NHMRC invests in research which would contribute to improved health outcomes and a reduction in health inequalities for Indigenous people in each of the partner countries.

Macquarie Bank Foundation

Pooled Development Funds

Pre-Seed Fund

The competitive Pre-Seed Fund for universities and public sector research agencies assists the commercialisation of public sector R&D activities by further developing the management and entrepreneurial skills of public sector researchers and build links with the finance and business community.

Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation (RIRDC) Research Programs

RIRDC provides support for R&D projects that address the strategic priorities in 3 key areas - new rural industries, established rural industries, and national rural issues.

Space Concession Program (SCP)

The Space Concession Program provides duty-free entry of goods imported for use in a "space project", provided certain conditions are met.

Stepping Up Advanced – Equity Capital Raising

Companies can utilise DSRD support of up to $7,500 over 3 stages, toward the costs of an equity capital raising of up to $5,000,000, to expand their business.

Venture Capital Limited Partnerships Program

Fund managers seeking to raise a new venture capital fund of at least $10 million for investing in Australian businesses with assets of up to $250 million may be eligible for VCLP registration.
