The objective of AgStart is to contribute to the development of profitable and sustainable rural industries by facilitating greater awareness of, and providing access to, potential entry points and career opportunities in agriculture for young people aged 18-35.
Aquatic Habitat Rehabilitation Grants Program
NSW DPI has funds available for fish habitat rehabilitation and other fish-related projects. The Recreational Fishing Trust grants program is funded through the fees collected from recreational fishing.
Area Assistance Scheme
The Area Assistance Scheme provides grants to local councils and non-government organisations for projects that improve community well being and how communities function.
Assistance for isolated children scheme
The Assistance for Isolated Children Scheme offers financial support to families in remote locations who have children that are unable to attend school on a daily basis because of geographic isolation.

Australia’s Farming Future – Climate Change Research Program
The Climate Change Research Program provides funding for research projects and on-farm demonstration pilots that address the following:
- Reducing greenhouse pollution
- Better soil management and
- Adaptation will include research into new adaptation technologies and new techniques.

The NSW Government's Business Drought Assistance Program provides a range of measures to help established regional non-farm businesses to survive the drought.
Carbon sink forests
Businesses are able to claim a deduction for expenditure that you incur for the establishment of trees in a carbon sink forest under subdivision 40-J of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997 (ITAA 1997).

This scheme is designed to assist talented young athletes from country areas of NSW to gain access to training, coaching and competitions similar to those enjoyed by athletes from the city.

The scheme is designed to assist coaches and officials from country areas of NSW access opportunities to participate in educational courses that assist them gain or maintain required accreditation.
Country Support
'Country Support' is an innovative assistance program to provide household, customers with long-term account payment solutions, not just short-term fixes. The program provides a lifeline to customers struggling to pay their energy accounts due to drought, unemployment, illness, family changes or other circumstances.
Country Women’s Association - emergency aid grants
Individual grants of up to $2000 per household are available to drought affected families in rural areas. This includes farmers, farming dependent contractors, service providers and local rural businesses. The grants are available to help meet essential household expenses and other basic necessities.

The Exceptional Circumstances Professional Advice and Planning Grant provides eligible farm enterprises up to $5500 (GST inclusive) to access professional business and financial advice to develop written business plans incorporating drought and risk management strategies.
