Government Grants for Green Building

Areas outside the greater metropolitan area or country areas are classed as regional. These areas are often characterised by small population towns or the significant areas of agricultural activities.

Export Market Development Grants (EMDG)

AgStart

The objective of AgStart is to contribute to the development of profitable and sustainable rural industries by facilitating greater awareness of, and providing access to, potential entry points and career opportunities in agriculture for young people aged 18-35.

Aquatic Habitat Rehabilitation Grants Program

NSW DPI has funds available for fish habitat rehabilitation and other fish-related projects. The Recreational Fishing Trust grants program is funded through the fees collected from recreational fishing.

Area Assistance Scheme

The Area Assistance Scheme provides grants to local councils and non-government organisations for projects that improve community well being and how communities function.

Assistance for isolated children scheme

The Assistance for Isolated Children Scheme offers financial support to families in remote locations who have children that are unable to attend school on a daily basis because of geographic isolation.

Australia’s Farming Future – Climate Change and Adjustment Program

Assistance for primary producers to manage the impacts of climate change is available through a number of programs. The Climate Change Adjustment Program is part of Australia’s Farming Future and will assist primary producers adapt and adjust to the impacts of climate change.

Australia’s Farming Future – Climate Change Research Program

The Climate Change Research Program provides funding for research projects and on-farm demonstration pilots that address the following:

  1. Reducing greenhouse pollution
  2. Better soil management and
  3. Adaptation will include research into new adaptation technologies and new techniques.

Australia-China Agricultural Cooperation Agreement (ACACA)

The ACACA program funds delegation visits with an agricultural focus which promotes agricultural cooperation between Australia and China.

The Better Regions Program provide important community infrastructure which will significantly enhances the liveability of regions and regional towns.

Building the Country Package

The Building the Country Package aims to help retain jobs outside of Sydney, supporting people who live and work in country areas.

Business drought assistance

The NSW Government's Business Drought Assistance Program provides a range of measures to help established regional non-farm businesses to survive the drought.

Carbon sink forests

Businesses are able to claim a deduction for expenditure that you incur for the establishment of trees in a carbon sink forest under subdivision 40-J of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997 (ITAA 1997).

Caring for Ageing in Rural Australia

The Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal works on behalf of the J.O and J.R Wicking Trust to fund worthwhile projects that support ageing in rural and regional Australia.

Country athletes scheme

This scheme is designed to assist talented young athletes from country areas of NSW to gain access to training, coaching and competitions similar to those enjoyed by athletes from the city.

Country coaches and officials scheme

The scheme is designed to assist coaches and officials from country areas of NSW access opportunities to participate in educational courses that assist them gain or maintain required accreditation.

Country Support

'Country Support' is an innovative assistance program to provide household, customers with long-term account payment solutions, not just short-term fixes. The program provides a lifeline to customers struggling to pay their energy accounts due to drought, unemployment, illness, family changes or other circumstances.

Country Women’s Association - emergency aid grants

Individual grants of up to $2000 per household are available to drought affected families in rural areas. This includes farmers, farming dependent contractors, service providers and local rural businesses. The grants are available to help meet essential household expenses and other basic necessities.

Key research themes and capabilities of the Animal Production Unit are FutureDairy, Development of stock feed technologies, CT scanning technologies and Improved nutritional and environmental management.

Drought Assistance

In addition to the existing drought assistance packages, Centrelink is now administering further measures that include a mix of payments and new rural grants.

Exceptional Circumstances Professional Advice and Planning Grant

The Exceptional Circumstances Professional Advice and Planning Grant provides eligible farm enterprises up to $5500 (GST inclusive) to access professional business and financial advice to develop written business plans incorporating drought and risk management strategies.  This programme ends on 30 June 2009.

Exceptional Circumstances Relief Payment (ECRP) commonly called ‘income support’, assists farm families in EC declared areas who are experiencing difficulties meeting basic living expenses.

Far West travel scheme

The Housing Communities Program (HCP) funds are offered primarily to employ staff to assist social housing communities in project locations across NSW affected by significant social, economic environmental and/or housing change.

Income support

No Interest Loan Scheme – NSW NILS Services

The NSW No Interest Loan Scheme (NILS) is a community managed microcredit state-wide program providing fee- and interest-free loans of up to $1,200 to low income earners for the purchase of essential household or medical goods and services.

The Remote Aerodrome Safety Program (RASP) is a national program assists the upgrade of airstrips in remote and isolated communities to facilitate the provision of non-commercial essential community air services across the nation.

Rural Transaction Centres

The program aims to work in partnership with communities, government and the private sector to foster the development of self-reliant communities and regions, making services more easily accessible.

Satellite Phone Subsidy Scheme

The Satellite Phone Subsidy Scheme aims to help people living or working in the most remote parts of Australia purchase satellite mobile phones.

Small Grants for Small Rural Communities

A small grants program for small rural Australian communities will offer grants to benefit people in rural and remote communities.

Special conservation loan scheme

The Special Conservation Scheme assists farmers within NSW protect the State’s biological and physical resource base by completing certain conservation works on their property.

Strategic Regional Land Transport Program

Strategic Regional Program supports land transport projects that support growth of regional industry, respond to structural change or strengthen local social and economic opportunities.

Support Scheme for Rural Specialists

Provides funding for innovative approaches to support the continuing professional development (CPD) and peer support needs of specialists practising in rural and remote areas.

The Farrer Memorial Trust was established in 1911 to perpetuate the memory of William James Farrer and to encourage and inspire agricultural scientists for service rendered in the fields of research, education or administration

Training for Rural and Remote Procedural General Pracitioners Program

Provides assistance for procedural GPs in rural and remote areas to access relevant activities in order to assist them in maintaining or updating their skills.
