Profiting from cleaner production

This program aims at supporting NSW businesses to improve their financial and environmental performance through cleaner production. The program provides funds to projects that address at least one of the following:

  • promotion of the widespread adoption of cleaner production
  • reduction of energy, water and raw material usage
  • recovery of reusable resources rather than disposing of them
  • reduction or elimination of hazardous or toxic constituents of products and processes.

The program provides funds to individual or clusters of small and medium sized businesses and/or their industry associations for:

  •  
  • cleaner production assessments and the development and implementation of cleaner production plans
  • industry associations to improve their sector's environmental performance
  • groups of businesses and their representative body for cleaner production
  • innovative opportunities for cleaner production projects.

Partnership projects are considered under four categories as follows:

Category 1:  Individual Small to Medium Sized Businesses
Stage 1 Prepare Cleaner Production Assessment
Stage 2 Develop and implement Cleaner Production Plan
$6k - $40k
Category 2:  Industry Associations
Develop and implement Cleaner Production Program for industry sector
to $120k
Category 3:  Clusters of Businesses                                                        
Stage 1 Cleaner Production Assessments
Stage 2 Development and implementation of Cleaner Production Plan/Training/Tools
to $30k
Category 4:  Innovative Opportunities                                              
Projects with individual/groups of businesses and industry associations which provide innovative opportunities. Examples include developing new technologies, product/process redesign, and development of new markets.
$  negotiable

All funding involves a matched contribution (including a minimum cash contribution, with the remainder in cash or in kind) by participating businesses, industry associations and other organisations.
